¡Hola!

I am Alondra, a proud Feminist Latina who aims to empower those who are underrepresented. Striving for representation stemmed from growing up in between two marginalized cities. I grew up partially in Matamoros, Tamaulipas and Brownsville, Texas (956). After graduating high school I knew I had to leave my small town comfort to break the cycle most first generation latinas are expected into.

In 2015, I got accepted into The Culinary Institute of America and left my hometown to pursue my pastry passion. Throughout my time in school I learned the art of french style baking which involved overly complicated recipes, intricate techniques, and European design. When I wasn’t baking or reading baking textbooks I would sit around Barnes and Nobles, alternating between baking and female lead books. I ended up coming across #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso and then everything changed from there. I realized that I had much more potential that I needed to take advantage of and that is when I decided to go back to school.

I pursued my BFA in communication Design Fall 2017 and have graduated in Spring 2021. My design style is influenced by my civic engagement, baking background and love for cultures.

My civic engagement involves giving back to my community by volunteering/organizing mutual aid fundraisers and promoting voter awareness. My deep appreciation of my culture has been an influential factor in my craft. I am always intrigued by all the little details that make individuals fall in love with their culture. These passions have improved my detail-oriented skills, time management, and creativity when designing.

My favorite desserts are napoleon and cemita de piña.
What’s your favorite dessert?

Let’s go get dessert ︎
